Our Irish Sea Moss is cultivated and harvested and in the oceans of Jamaica. It is sun dried (no fertilizers or bleaching chemical used). Our Irish Sea Moss is clean, however because of the natural nature of our product, and that it is wild harvested in the ocean it contains sea salt, and may contain tiny seashells etc. This Irish Sea Moss needs to be washed and soaked several times before use.
PREPPING YOUR SEAWEED
Remove your sea moss from the package. (It will have a slight smell. That’s a good thing!). Thoroughly rinse your seaweed with filtered or spring water. (Do not use tap water. I have a filtered system installed in my home which is why you see me rinsing it in the sink)
Grab a bowl and fill it with water. Place your sea moss in and soak for 4 to 8 hours.
MAKING SEA MOSS GEL:
After soaking, drain water from the bowl. You will notice it has lost some color (almost translucent) and has expanded 2x its original size.
Add your sea moss and fresh spring or filtered water to a high-speed blender and blend for 1-2 minutes until completely smooth. Pour into a glass jar and place a lid on top. Store in the refrigerator until it solidifies.
